A philosophical event series addressing the issues at the intersection of society and technology.
By bringing together a multi-disciplinary panel to tackle a single topic.
This is not a debate stage, and there will be no “gotcha” moments. It is a collaboration, entered in good faith, to work out the truthFor our purposes, truth is understood to be the most reasonable conclusion that survives challenge from evidence and logic..
It has to be multidisciplinary because philosophy birthed many of the fields of knowledge we rely on today; therefore, working out the truth necessarily requires a multidisciplinary approach (so that we don't miss something significant in economics while we're busy building our social theories).
A more enlightened public.
For too long now, the public has been starved of authentic and
approachable philosophy that addresses the questions of the times.
That ends now.
Reason.
Basing beliefs and actions on evidence, logic, and objective facts rather than on emotion, tradition, or blind authority.
Temperance.
The capacity to engage with challenging or disagreeable ideas while maintaining composure and a commitment to rational dialogue.
Individualism.
The courage to think independently and to reach conclusions based on truth rather than consensus, tradition, or the crowd.
